Carlyle’s has always been more than just a neighbourhood restaurant and bar — it’s a place where people come together.
Since taking over the business in September 2022, director Clayton Nel set out to create a space that feels welcoming, familiar and community-driven at its core. Originally coming from a background in ministry, Clayton brought a people-first approach into hospitality. His warmth, authenticity and genuine care for others quickly became part of the Carlyle’s experience, helping turn customers into regulars and regulars into friends.
In March 2024, Ross Kenny officially joined the business as co-director and partner, bringing with him extensive experience in retail and hospitality management. With a strong operational mindset, attention to detail and a passion for quality service, Ross helped elevate the systems, standards and overall customer experience behind the scenes.
Together, Clayton and Ross balance heart and hospitality with structure and strategy — a partnership built on shared vision, complementary strengths and a commitment to continuous growth.
In October 2024, Carlyle’s underwent a full renovation as part of a broader reimagining of the brand and customer experience. Since then, we’ve continued with ongoing upgrades, refinements, and new ideas inspired by feedback from our community. Our goal has always been simple: to create a home away from home. A place where people can relax, celebrate, connect, and feel part of something familiar.
We are still learning, still growing and still evolving — but we are incredibly excited about what lies ahead for Carlyle’s and the community around it.
